Building Homes In Chile
A group of employees traveled from London to Chile to build a house for a young Chilean family of four. The family was living in an extremely basic, crowded house without modern day conveniences. The group built the house from the ground up in one week. The family purchased the house for approximately US$150.00 payable over several years. On their long flight home, the volunteer group expressed a sense of achievement, as well as appreciation for how fortunate their own lives have been.
Stamford Staff Take Part In Race For The Cure
After being diagnosed with breast cancer, a Connecticut - based employee rallied colleagues to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research by launching the Pink Ribbon Runners group. The group of 20 participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure CT organization , raising over US$15,000. After the event, she reported "The support from my colleagues has been tremendous. I really appreciate …my extended 'family' at Thomson Reuters."
Science and Healthcare Volunteer Support Science Fair.
Twenty-five Thomson Reuters Science and Healthcare employees volunteered at the Carver Science Fair in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Approximately 250 students in grades 4-6 from public, private, parochial and home schools competed in the event, which had a direct tie to the business unit's mission of education and science. Employee volunteers were able to lend their subject matter expertise to the competition.
