Deputy Chairman

Christopher Mallaby is the Chairman of the Charitable Trust of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer.

Sir Christopher served in the British Diplomatic Service from 1959-96, was Deputy Director of the British Trade Development Office in New York from 1971-74. He was head of the Arms Control department then East European and Soviet department then Policy Planning Staff, Foreign & Commonwealth Office (1977-82), Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet 1985-88, Ambassador to Germany from 1988-92, and Ambassador to France from 1993-96. Sir Christopher was Managing Director, UBS Investment Bank, from 1996-2006; Chairman, Somerset House Trust 2002-2006; and Trustee, Tate Gallery from 1996-2002.

Sir Christopher was educated at Eton; Kings' College, Cambridge; and Harvard Business School.

Appointed a Reuters Trustee in 1998.
