Gustav Carlson

Executive Vice President & Global Chief Marketing Officer

Gustav Carlson is Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer for Thomson Reuters.  Mr. Carlson oversees the development and implementation of global strategic marketing and communications programs to build brand awareness and support the business objectives of the Corporation.  He is also a member of the Thomson Reuters Executive Committee.

He assumed his current position after serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing & Communications Officer of The Thomson Corporation since 2006.

Mr. Carlson has more than 30 years of experience as a Senior Communications Executive and as an award-winning national business journalist and author.  He previously served as Vice President of Communications for Standard & Poor's.  Before that, he was an Associate Partner in Corporate Communications at Accenture.  He has also held senior communications positions with Barnes & Noble, PaineWebber and Hill & Knowlton.

Mr. Carlson is a former business editor for The New York Times and The Miami Herald, where he was a member of the editorial staff awarded the Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal for coverage of Hurricane Andrew in 1992.  He began his media career as a newspaper editor and nationally syndicated columnist in Canada and is the author of two books on corporate reputation and culture.

Mr. Carlson is active in a number of business and professional organizations, including serving as a board member of the Canadian-American Business Council and a member of the Arthur W. Page Society.

Mr. Carlson is a graduate of Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, and the University of California, Santa Barbara.
