Key Features of Exemplary Worksite Health and Productivity Management Programs Identified
The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Thomson Reuters conducted a study to identify key features of exemplary Worksite Health and Productivity Management (HPM) programs. Our team worked with the NACDD and the CDC to identify the characteristics of promising practice worksite health and productivity management (HPM) programs. The project team initiated its work by forming and consulting with a panel of 10 experts in the field, including a face-to-face meeting in Atlanta that was also attended by the CDC. Our team formulated best practice criteria for worksite health and productivity management programs based upon expert input as well as a literature review. In addition, we identified a group of 100 potential best practice employers. Using inventory results, we selected a subset of nine employers whose current practices most closely reflect the best practice criteria, and conducted in-depth site visits to thoroughly explore their HPM programs. Results of the project were published in a peer reviewed journal.
