Reuters Health Hires New Executive Editor

New York – Reuters Health today announced Ivan Oransky, M.D. as its new executive editor, effective June 15. Oransky will head the editorial operations of the global medical and healthcare news service and drive its continued development as the industry’s leading news source.

“Oransky’s successful track record as an academic and news professional make him the ideal person to develop Reuters Health and further leverage the unique assets of Thomson Reuters in the scientific and healthcare arena for the benefit of our professional and media customers,” said Vincent Baby, vice president of news services for Reuters News Agency. “We look forward to welcoming him to our team.”

Oransky comes to Reuters Health from Scientific American, where he is the online managing editor presiding over a significant content expansion and high traffic growth. He is a board member of the Association of Health Care Journalists (AHCJ) and a member of the National Association of Science Writers.

Oransky will replace Robert Saunders, who is retiring. Saunders has been with Reuters Health since 1996.

“Saunder’s significant contributions and strategic leadership have helped build Reuters Health over the past decade,” said Baby. “His work will remain a valuable foundation for our continued success.”
