Thomson Reuters Releases Additional Checkpoint Tools for Tax Professionals

Electronic Tax Practice Aids for Tax Returns Increase Workflow Efficiency

New York, NY  - The Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters has recently released  four new Tax Practice Aids™ (for 1040, 1120S, 1065, and 1041 returns) under the Checkpoint® Tools brand. The practice aids are the same as those in PPC's Tax Deskbooks, but are now in electronic format with built-in functionality and features to save preparation and review time for tax practitioners.

"The new Tax Practice Aids offer unprecedented productivity and convenience," said Blake Smith, senior director of Product Development at the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters. "With pre-defined calculations and entry fields, the risk of error is greatly reduced. And they're developed in Microsoft® Word and Excel formats, so there's no learning curve to begin using the templates."

Highlights of the new tools include:

  • detailed, editable tax engagement letters specifying the terms of engagement to minimize client misunderstanding;
  • editable tax preparation and review checklists with automated sign-off tools to help ensure returns are prepared accurately and efficiently;
  • customizable worksheets to save time spent calculating, tracking, and documenting computations;
  • a comprehensive collection of election statements and return attachments (with requirements explained) to reduce time spent creating an election;
  • customizable client organizers to collect return preparation information for unique returns;
  • alerts and diagnostics to help identify potential errors;
  • pre-defined and customizable "tickmarks" add consistency to the preparation and review process; and
