DSS Kids Go Back-To-School With Support From Thomson Financial
Boston
The Department of Social Services (DSS) is honored to announce that Thomson Financial, Inc., a provider of information and technology solutions to leaders in the financial industry worldwide, will donate more than 200 new backpacks filled with school supplies to DSS kids just in time for the start of the school year. Thomson Financial will present its generous donation to DSS Commissioner Angelo McClain at an event at the company’s regional office in Boston on Wednesday, August 29.
More than 200 Thomson employees showed their commitment to helping kids by buying brand new backpacks and filling them with new pens, pencils, notebooks and other school supplies. The company and its employees have been generous supporters of DSS for more than a decade by participating in the agency’s annual holiday gift drive, which ensures that every child in DSS care has a special and memorable holiday season.
“On behalf of all of the children and families served by DSS, I sincerely thank everyone at Thomson Financial for their genuine commitment to helping kids in need,” said DSS Commissioner Angelo McClain. “Their generous support will go a long way in helping kids get off to a good start as they head back to school this fall.”
“Thomson Financial is proud to support DSS and children in need this fall and throughout the year,” added Nancy Hannigan, the company’s Regional Managing Director “We hope these new backpacks stuffed with school supplies will make the first day of school a little bit brighter for hundreds of kids in Boston.”
The Department of Social Services is the state agency charged with protecting children from abuse and neglect and strengthening families.
