Thomson Financial Ranked Among Top 100 Companies Named In The Information Week 500 Annual Listing
New York, NY
Thomson Financial, an operating unit of The Thomson Corporation (TSX: TOC,
NYSE: TOC) and a leading provider of information, news and technology
solutions to the worldwide financial community, today announced it was
ranked one of the top 100 companies in the 2007 InformationWeek 500 annual
listing. Honored along with its peers for delivering business value through
technology innovation and execution, Thomson was cited last night at the
InformationWeek 500 Conference and Gala Awards Ceremony in Tucson,
Arizona.
Thomson was recognized for developing a flexible solution that allows
employees in client services, sales, marketing and related operations to
pull information from different departments and build applications that
circumvent previously time consuming and expensive processes. Using
Business Mashup technology from Serena Software Inc, Thomson builds new
composite applications in a matter of days. It has increased visibility,
accountability and cross-department collaboration throughout the
organization by seamlessly tying together data and processes from various
enterprise applications.
“We are pleased to be recognized as an innovation leader by a publication
as influential as InformationWeek,” said Warren A. Breakstone, executive
vice president of Thomson Financial. “Innovation is often about approaching
common challenges from a different mindset and then leveraging technology
in exciting new ways to solve business problems and exceed client
expectations.”
Thomson has achieved remarkable results through process innovations,
including:
- Double-digit increases in employee productivity gains.
- New sales proposals reduced from 5 days to three minutes.
- Trial IDs provisioned in real-time
- Integrated customer relationship management
- Company-wide incident notification process
“We’d like to extend our sincere congratulations to all InformationWeek 500
honorees. These companies represent today’s leading technology innovators,
many of whom have joined us this week,” said InformationWeek vice president
and publisher, John Siefert. “This group has prompted fascinating
discussion on some of the most forward looking business technology
initiatives to date.”
For nearly 20 years, InformationWeek has identified and honored the
nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual
listing. The list is unique among corporate rankings because it spotlights
the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply
identifying the biggest IT spenders. Additional details on the
