Thomson Financial Releases Thomson PORTIA v9.0
Introduces Integrated Investment Ledger and Supports Management of Complex Assets

the worldwide financial community, announces the launch of Thomson PORTIA
v9.0, the most innovative upgrade to PORTIA’s leading investment accounting
system in its 20 year history.
This new release broadens the scope of Thomson PORTIA by adding significant
new functional and technical capabilities and provides clients with a
global-enterprise wide accounting solution to support the unique
requirements of any organization including investment managers, alternative
investment managers, insurance companies and hedge funds. Major
enhancements include the introduction of an integrated investment ledger
and enhanced workflow support for complex assets.

The new version expands the scope of how Thomson PORTIA can help an
enterprise, allowing new business to be brought onto the system while also
supporting more of the requirements of the middle to back office. Core
functional improvements have been made in areas such as advanced accounting
allowing managers to comply with the latest accounting standards. Support
for a number of new global and regional security types and asset classes
have also been added. Powerful new integration capabilities include:
publish and subscribe facility for better and timelier automation and a web
services interface directly to PORTIA business logic.
Thomson PORTIA v9.0 has made significant advancements in driving an
optimized workflow including:

Complex Assets – the new swap manager automates the
trading and management of multi-legged asset types eliminating manual
and operational risk. Asset types covered include: Credit default
Swaps, Interest Rate Swaps, Currency Swaps, Equity Swaps, Total return
Swaps, Swaptions, Syndicated loans, Repos and Reverse Repos.
Hedging features available include the ability to monitor cost, market value and profit and loss in real time, define strategies, and measure effectiveness by portfolio, strategy, security type and on the fly grouping. These new features give clients greater flexibility in managing their hedge portfolios.
- Investment Ledger - allows clients to create multiple charts of accounts and define specific postings rules for both transactions and holdings. Reporting on ledger activity is available through pre-configured balance sheets, profit & loss statements and cash flow statements.
