West Provides 2008 Election Resources
Election 2008 database is available to Westlaw subscribers free through the national elections
Eagan, Minn., Aug. 22, 2008 – Legal professionals and pundits tracking the Democratic and Republication National Conventions and electoral process can now rely on Westlaw for comprehensive election-related information with the launch of a new dedicated Elections tab on Westlaw.
The Elections tab, which users can custom-configure on their Westlaw interface, provides access to a breadth of information, including voter identification and campaign financing laws, plus election-related news and legal filings. Westlaw is the premier legal information resource from West, part of Thomson Reuters.
“Journalists and legal professionals alike need citable resources to clarify, report and advise on the election process and procedures as we elect our state and national leadership,” said Rick King, executive vice president and chief operating officer, West. “Our intention is to bring all of our election resources together in one convenient place on Westlaw to allow faster, more accurate advising and reporting on what is sure to be a lively time for news and court filings relating to the political season.”
The new Elections tab on Westlaw is a focused resource for timely and accurate research on election issues. The Election-2008 content within the Elections tab provides researchers with trial filings relevant to election law – such as the right to vote, voter identification laws, ballot validity and campaign financing – filed in state and federal courts, as well as the world’s most comprehensive collection of court motions, memoranda, pleadings, trial briefs, non-expert depositions, discovery and non-expert affidavits, proposed court orders, agreements, verdicts, settlements and other trial filings. Also within the Election-2008 content, Westlaw subscribers will be able to review election-related topics as covered in daily newspapers, magazines, journals and transcripts.
The Election-2008 database within the new Westlaw Elections tab is available free beginning today, and through the national elections, to all Westlaw subscribers.
