Thomson Reuters’ Tax & Accounting Experts to Speak at Telestrategies Conference
Experts on Sales& Use Tax and Property Tax Address Telecommunications Providers
Tax regulations continue to challenge the communications industry with complex handling of land line and wireless telephones, data, Internet, and television, as well as prepaid calling and bundled plans. Corporate tax experts Peter Hladek, Douglas Mo, and Jeffrey Cohen from the Tax &Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, formerly Thomson Tax & Accounting, will explain how to ease the complexity of the telecommunications taxation system during their upcoming panel discussions on sales & use and property taxes at the 2008 Telestrategies Communications Taxation conference in Boston.
According to Brian Peccarelli, president of Corporate Software & Services within the Tax& Accounting business, “It gets even more interesting when you factor in taxes for networks, interstate services, sale for resale, tangible and intangible assets, property, and more, all while managing risk and efficiently complying with changing regulations.”
In the pre-conference session Understanding Communications Taxation on June 2, Hladek, managing director of Thomson Property Tax Services, will provide insight into the fundamentals of property tax assessments and appeals as a primer to attending Increased Property Taxes through the Expansion of Central Assessment on June 4. During this panel regarding central assessment and previously tax-exempt intangibles,Mo, principal of Thomson Property Tax Services, will discuss the ramifications of central assessment on the tax liabilities of telecommunications companies.
