Thomson Reuters Experts to Speak at Equipment Leasing and Finance Association Conference

Experts on Personal Property Tax and Sales Tax Address ELFA Finance Professionals

The combination of tax statutes, regulations, state and local jurisdictional administrative rules, as well as IRS guidelines, continue to challenge corporate finance professionals who deal with financial reporting for leasing and sales transactions. Corporate tax experts Michael Finnegan and Robyn Bowen from the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, formerly Thomson Tax & Accounting, will walk through potentially problematic scenarios and provide solutions during their Sept. 16 session on Principles of Sales & Personal Property Tax at the 2008 Lease Accountants Conference in Nashville.

“First and second year corporate accountants will not want to miss this session,” said Joe Mulcahy, senior vice president of Property Tax for Thomson Reuters. “Navigating the maze of IRS code and stipulations per jurisdiction can be daunting for those fairly new to leasing and sales transaction reporting. Finnegan and Bowen will provide direction on where to turn for guidance as well as how to avoid potential audit pitfalls.”

Michael Finnegan is director of Property Tax Services at the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, where he manages large property tax compliance engagements and provides sales tax consulting. He joined the Tax & Accounting business in 2007 as part of the Deloitte Tax, LLP acquisition where he was a senior tax manager. Finnegan holds a bachelor’s degree from Drake University and a master’s degree in Taxation from DePaul University. He is a licensed CPA in the state of Tennessee and is a member of the Association of Consumer Vehicle Lessors, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Institute for Professionals in Taxation.
