Thomson Reuters Debuts Custom Pages, eLibraries on WestlawNext

Enhancements enable more effective, customized research

EAGAN, Minn. – Thomson Reuters has introduced Custom Pages on WestlawNext, the leading online legal research service, enabling users to create searchable, personalized pages from specific content sets.

Available at no cost for all WestlawNext subscribers, Custom Pages can be tailored to specific research needs while providing the convenient benefits and innovation WestlawNext offers, including WestSearch, Find a Citation, KeyCite® a Citation, Folders and Favorites.

According to C.J. Lechtenberg, manager of product development at Thomson Reuters, making sure the right content is included in a Custom Page is incredibly simple. “Custom Pages allow creation of specific research for personalized needs, and multiple pages can be built and designed around the way researchers think and work. Pages can be built around practice areas, jurisdictions, content libraries, or any combination of these, and content may be added to any section or page by browsing and selecting resources, or by selecting from a list of matching databases.”

Custom Pages also allows users to incorporate frequently searched content, add convenient tools, send a Custom Page to a colleague inside or outside the organization, create as many pages as needed, navigate seamlessly amongst pages and choose one as a starting point for research on WestlawNext. “All these features have been incorporated to provide an effective and efficient personal research experience, and help legal professionals find deeper insights across complex content sets,” added Lechtenberg.

e-Libraries

Thomson Reuters also has announced an additional enhancement to WestlawNext: eLibraries. Providing a streamlined research experience from beginning to end, eLibraries affords the opportunity for large accounts with multiple users to easily switch between billable and non-billable research during a single session, providing customers with an avenue to have research charged to a specific account. Firm administrators can set and manage non-billable content for users and maintain a clear billing structure to support the firm’s billing strategy and manage cost recovery expectations through eLibraries functionality.

Additionally, greater insight can be learned through eLibraries by tracking metrics down to individual users and analyze research usage through Westlaw Analytics, announced earlier this year. The combination of e-Libraries and Westlaw Analytics also will drive increased research efficiency.
