Tobias Lee of Thomson Reuters Selected by ExecReps as a Top CMO for 2013

NEW YORK – Tobias Lee, chief marketing officer for the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, has moved up seven spots in the ExecReps' ExecRank listing of the nation's top CMOs for 2013.

The ranking service positioned Lee as #53 in its list of the nation's 250 top chief marketing officers for 2013, up from #60 the previous year. Using a proprietary algorithm based on performance in 24 key areas, ExecRank evaluated more than 15,000 CMOs to select the current year's top 250.

"Building on his international background and diverse corporate experience working for both startups and blue chip companies, Mr. Lee consistently delivers results in his current position as the CMO of the global marketing strategy division for Tax & Accounting at Thomson Reuters," said Pavan Sethi, Lead Analyst for ExecRank, the research division of ExecReps. "A passionate, experienced, and brilliant leader, Mr. Lee commands respect and admiration from those who know and work with him."

Lee oversees global marketing strategy—including branding, creative services, demand generation, public relations, customer excellence and online marketing—for the Tax & Accounting division of Thomson Reuters. Over the past year, Lee has led successful efforts at Thomson Reuters to increase connections between marketing and the business via data intelligence. He spearheaded process and infrastructure improvements across a wide range of marketing channels to build marketing programs on a foundation of extensive data analysis.

Lee has been widely published in recent months, during which he also earned recognition as a 2013 National Association of Asian American Professionals Leader of Excellence, Marketing Executive of the Year Finalist in the 2014 American Business Awards, Oracle/Eloqua Markie Rookie of the Year Finalist (honoring excellence in demand generation) in 2013 and the Dallas Fort Worth American Marketing Association 2014 CMO of the Year Finalist.

ExecRank reports that, among CMOs, 2013 was highlighted by considerable focus on multiplatform content, content marketing and engagement strategies that cut through the white noise to generate a positive return on investment. The year also saw many marketing executives growing in recognition through publications, one of several forms of thought leadership that is factored heavily into these rankings, as well."I very much appreciate ExecRank's recognition of our work at Thomson Reuters to strengthen the underpinnings of our marketing activities with data-driven intelligence," Lee said. "I am privileged to work with an exceptional executive team and a marketing organization focused on driving our business to continued success across the globe."

Before joining Thomson Reuters, Lee was a marketing executive at Trend Micro, where he held a variety of roles, including global vice president of consumer and small and midsize business marketing. From 2005 to 2007, he was based in the company's headquarters in Tokyo, where he led the enterprise marketing team and launched the company's first private conference, now in its sixth year of operation. Prior to Trend Micro, Lee worked in brand management and marketing at Dell and Toshiba.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in law from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA from the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University. He also sits on the advisory board for the CMO Council.
