Thomson Reuters Collaborates with FinTech Venture Finatext in Japan

Strategic FinTech collaboration to develop market trends analysis to help investors make faster decisions

TOKYO – Thomson Reuters announced today a strategic collaboration with Japanese FinTech venture, Finatext, to develop a new FinTech service targeting local and foreign financial institutions as well as individual investors.

In light of recent market trends in Japan, including the launch of Japan ISA’s Individual Savings Account, Japan Post’s privatization and expanded investor base and the growing usage of smart technology, investors increasingly seek FinTech services to meet the demand for accurate and timely information. In response, financial services firms are turning to cutting-edge technology as a way of connecting with clients more efficiently and conveniently.

Thomson Reuters combines industry expertise with innovative technology to deliver critical information to leading decision makers across financial institutions, governments, universities, media and corporates enterprises. As a market leader, Thomson Reuters has been working in close partnership with a variety of FinTech accelerator programs globally to support FinTech start-ups. The collaboration with Finatext marks the first time Thomson Reuters has collaborated with a FinTech venture in the Japan market.

Finatext is a mobile-focused financial solutions provider that aims to increase users’ financial literacy and revolutionize retail investment through creative technology. Under the collaboration, Thomson Reuters provides Finatext with access to instant financial and economic data as well as Reuters news, with which Finatext utilizes to develop and improve their applications.

By combining Thomson Reuters data and Finatext’s platform, Finatext aims to develop “market trends analysis,” a new and diversified financial service that provides data analysis of currencies, stock prices estimates and leading market trends. The new service helps investors make decisions faster, quicker and more accurately.

The collaboration promotes innovation in Japan and globally, opening up new and exciting opportunities for the FinTech market.
