Miami - The Thomson Reuters Community, an online networking platform exclusively for the company’s tax technology customers, was launched this week during SYNERGY 2013, an annual conference for users of the Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE suite of tax software solutions.
“Our new online community enables customers to engage with their peers from across the industry in a secure environment and share ideas and best practices,” said Tobias Lee, chief marketing officer for the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters. “It’s the latest step in our continuing commitment to deliver a valuable customer experience.”
Alexis Aimard, tax technology lead for Lexmark, a global provider of printing and imaging products, software and services, said: “The online community is giving me a place to ask questions about complex scenarios and get answers from my peers in other companies and from the Thomson Reuters team.”
The conference took place at the Fontainebleau resort in Miami Beach and featured a keynote session with Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland Athletics and subject of the book and movie Moneyball.
More than 1,200 corporate tax professionals attended hundreds of educational sessions during the three-day conference. The event is one in a series of tax and accounting conferences for Thomson Reuters customers taking place around the world this season. Earlier sessions took place in Sydney and Sao Paulo, and the final event in the series is scheduled for London later this month. In total, nearly 4,000 tax professionals worldwide will have attended SYNERGY 2013.
The ONESOURCE platform is the market leader in corporate tax compliance, with solutions addressing income tax, transfer pricing, indirect tax, trust tax, and more.During the opening session of the conference, Brian Peccarelli, president of the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, noted the challenges facing corporate tax professionals as they grapple with the ramifications of increased globalization, regulatory complexity, and uncertain policies.
“In the environment you work in, it’s absolutely critical for you to do more strategically, proactively, thoughtfully. I believe your organizations’ success depends on it,” Peccarelli told attendees. “We are working hard to help by creating automated workflow processes . . . that maximize your productivity, efficiency, and accuracy.”
“At the same time,” he said, “we help our customers maximize their strategic potential by creating tools that support expert data analysis and decision making.”
