Worldscope – The premier fundamentals database for deep international company coverage and history. Worldscope content is standardized, utilizing both statement face and footnote data to eliminate terminology and presentation differences across companies and countries. A Point in Time offering, important for backtesting, will be available soon.
Reuters Fundamentals – Providing industry leading coverage of developed, emerging and frontier markets, Reuters Fundamentals offers customers a unique ability to analyze companies in an as reported or standardized format with audit back to ‘company specific’ values. Our Point in Time offering affords customers the unique ability to improve backtesting models by presenting press release, original and restated data when the information was first made available to the market.
Reuters Fundamentals
Available over MarketQA, Reuters Knowledge, Reuters 3000 Xtra and Thomson ONE Suite of products. In addition, Reuters Fundamentals data is available over FTP providing:
- Reuters As-Reported Fundamentals – providing a line-by-line ‘company specific’ view for in-depth analysis on individual companies. Reuters Company Specific file provides both originally reported and restated data.
- Reuters Standardized Fundamentals – allowing users to perform a cross-sectional analysis of companies across regions and industries utilizing consistent financial and footnote date. Standardized data is available for both original and restated periods.
In addition, Standardized and As-Reported financials also provide value-added content such as industry specific metrics, ratios and statistics and referential company information. - Business and Geographic Segments adds clarity to your analysis on companies with a global sales reach and/or operating in multiple lines of business. Business Segment data allows users to identify company growth trends at the product/business level; while Geographic Segment data affords users the ability to gauge a company’s exposure to regional specific risks and opportunities.
- Reuters Fundamentals Point in Time allows quantitative focused professionals to back test strategies without look-ahead bias.. Based on announcement/release dates, it provides a daily time series of financial statement as it was available before amendments, revisions and restatements. A full daily time-series of FX rates, split adjustment factors and period returns data is also included allowing for accurate performance simulation.
Worldscope
Available over the Thomson ONE Suite of products, Datastream and Market QA. In addition, Worldscope is available via FTP in a flat file format:
- Worldscope Fundamentals provides deep coverage of developed and emerging markets with history back to 1980 for key companies and markets including coverage of global index constituent companies. Expansion into frontier markets has been ongoing and will be further expanded over the remaining year and through 2010.
- Worldscopes standardized content includes detailed balance sheet, income, and cash flow statements sourced from both financial statements and footnotes. Key footnote content is also supported, example: pension & post retirement content and intangibles breakdowns. The standardized presentation of data sourced from both the statement face or footnotes ensure availability and comparability of items or derived valuations across companies or countries. Restated financial data is available for 2004 and subsequent years where applicable.
- Business and Geographic Segment content is provided supporting product/business or country /region analysis and screening. Industry metrics for the Airlines, Hotel and Retail industries are currently supported for the Russell 3000 and top global companies.
Other content includes price (weekly, monthly and yearly), dividend and other valuation content, per share content at both the company and security level, Industry and other descriptive content, and pre-calculated ratios covering profitability, asset utilization, leverage and liquidity and growth rates.
