Reuters EcoWin Pro is a Windows®-based time series analysis program. It communicates over the Internet with the central EcoWin database to retrieve time series and other related information. File formats and most of the data transferred to and from the Reuters EcoWin server is based on XML. Microsoft® XML Parser 4 is used for most XML parsing.
A native, purely 32-bit and Unicode based application, Reuters EcoWin Pro runs on Windows® 2000 XP. Since the application and all file formats can handle all Unicode characters, it has the capacity to use most alphabets even if the application itself is currently only available in English.
Microsoft Internet Explorer® is used as a stand-alone web browser to view some reports, on-line documentation and the Reuters EcoWin Start page. Internet Explorer® is also used as a component within the application as a part of the user interface to do things like displaying reports and to browse the series database.
