Thomson Reuters Wireless Delivery System sources data content directly from the Thomson Reuters Enterprise Platform for Real-time. The server interfaces with the Enterprise Platform for real-time data, charts and news content, using the Data Access Control System for single exchange fee liability.

To access Thomson Reuters Wireless Delivery System, you will need to install a lightweight Java application for a BlackBerry device or the Objective C application for an iOS. In the case of an HTML5 web application, nothing needs to be installed on the handheld device but it has to have an HTML5-compliant browser such as Safari or Chrome. It is possible to run a combination of both BlackBerry and other platform applications using the same Thomson Reuters Wireless Delivery System server.

  • BlackBerry Deployment
The software connects to the Thomson Reuters Wireless Delivery System server via the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES). It is the BES that encrypts all data with triple DES encryption to secure your content.
  • iOS (iPhone, iPad) Deployment
Applications need to be downloaded straight onto the device from the iTunes App Store – the only software distribution channel for Apple devices. Once installed, the application connects to the server over the internet. A reverse proxy (such as an ISA) can be used within your network for added security.

Thomson Reuters Wireless Delivery System has an easy-to-use display interface that can be customized. Users can create new watchlists, templates and shortcuts/bookmarks to any type of data, including news queries, charts or watchlists. Admin users can create composite views consisting of lists and “explore” sections containing shortcuts that can be made available to groups of people based on roles. This can also be done with RSS to distribute web-published research documents.
