June 27th Thomson Reuters teams up with IdealRatings and adds a global Islamic benchmark offering to its suite of indices. Quarterly, research based screening differentiates the indices from other Islamic benchmarks and ensures the most recent Shariah compliance status of constituents.

NEW PERIPHERAL EUROZONE BANKS INDEX LAUNCHED
Building on the success of the Peripheral Eurozone Countries Index, the unique broad market benchmark for the Eurozone countries with the highest government deficit levels, Thomson Reuters Indices has launched the Peripheral Eurozone Banks index. This index tracks banks listed in Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Spain and is available in Real Time on Thomson Reuters Eikon and Reuters 3000 Xtra, and with End of Day updates on Datastream. The index is also available off-the-desktop and for licensing.

TRBC JUDGED AS BEST SECTOR CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM FOR SECTOR INDICES AND EXCHANGE TRADED FUNDS BY JOURNAL OF INDEXES
This Journal of Indexes article compares TRBC with its two closest competitors by looking at the size and depth of their securities universes; the structure of their sorting methodologies; and inter-sector correlation analysis. The authors conclude that TRBC stands out as the most useful sector classification system for building sector indices and ultimately for ETF investors.
