Thomson Reuters supports provider, hospital, and healthcare information system (HIS) vendor efforts to address Meaningful Use (MU) requirements for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals as defined by the HITECH Act.

We are both certifying existing and bringing to market new solutions that will address many of the Stage 1 Criteria.  Five solutions are available in the market today and will be certified by summer of 2011.   Three additional solutions are in development, and will be available and certified over the course of the year.  Many of our solutions can be used to address other objectives as part of self-certified systems or vendor offerings, as well.

AVAILABLE TODAY

  • Clinical Xpert™ CareFocus — CareFocus is certified to support the core set objective for Clinical Decision Support rules and the menu set objective to generate patient lists by specific conditions. (Certification completed in June 2011 - more)
  • Clinical Xpert CareFocus NCHESS-IMC Module —  will be certified to support the core set objective for Clinical Decision Support rules, and the menu set objectives to generate patient lists by specific conditions and to submit electronic syndromic surveillance data.  (Certification completed in June 2011 - more)
  • Pharmacy Xpert —  is certified to support the core set objective for Clinical Decision Support rules and the menu set objective to generate patient lists by specific conditions.  (Certification completed June 2011 - more )
  • Integration Discovery —  this clinical integration platform will be certified to support 12 Stage I objectives pertaining to the care coordination and information exchange. Core set objectives include electronic prescription (eRx), electronic copy of health information, electronic copy of discharge instructions, and exchange of key clinical information.  Menu set objectives include incorporating lab-test results as structured data, patient lists by specific conditions, medication reconciliation, providing summary of care records at transition, submission of immunizations, and the submission of syndromic surveillance data.  This solution is available for implementation within Integrated Delivery Networks or at the statewide level.   • Meaningful Use thumbnailMeaningful Use Quality Manager - is certified to support the core objective of reporting hospital clinical quality measures to CMS or the states. This new offering leverages our CareDiscovery Quality Measures expertise with on time, accurate quality measurement and reporting to regulatory agencies. (Certification completed May 2011)

AVAILABLE MID-LATE 2011

  • Infection Xpert - will be certified to support the core set objective for Clinical Decision Support rules, and the menu set objectives to generate patient lists by specific conditions, to submit electronic syndromic surveillance data, and to submit electronic data on reportable lab results. (Certification planned by Q4 2011)
  • Patient Xpert - will be certified to will be certified to support the core objective to provide patients electronic copies of their discharge instructions, and the menu set objective to use EHR technology to provide patient-specific education resources to patients. (Certification planned by Q4 2011)

SUPPORTING SOLUTIONS

In addition to our certified solutions, Thomson Reuters solutions can be used to assist with the achievement of MU objectives as part of a larger hospital system. In particular:

  • Integrated CareNotes - Can be used to integrate CareNotes patient education content into other clinical information systems.  Supports certification by other systems, including MEDITECH, Epic, Synamed, and others.
  • CareDiscovery - Can be used as part of a system to generate lists of patients with specific conditions.
  • Clinical Xpert CareFocus - Can be used as part of a system to submit electronic data on reportable (as required by state or local law) lab results.
  • UltiMedex® - Can be used as part of a system to provide drug-drug and drug-allergy interaction checks.
