Follow these steps to find a statutory provision, regulation, or rule by name or citation in Westlaw

  1. Select
    Find
    next to the search bar.
  2. Enter your search information.
    • To find a case by name, use the
      Find and KeyCite a Case by Name
      section.
      1. Enter all or part of the case in the
        Name
        field.
      2. Select a jurisdiction from the
        Jurisdiction
        dropdown.
    • To find a statutory provision by name, use the
      Find and KeyCite a Statute or Regulation by Name
      section.
      1. Enter all or part of the provision in the
        Name
        field.
      2. Enter the section number in the
        Section
        field.
      3. Select a jurisdiction from the
        Jurisdiction
        dropdown.
    • To find a rule by name, use the
      Find and KeyCite a Rule by Name
      section.
      1. Enter all or part of the rule in the
        Name
        field.
      2. Enter the section or rule number in the
        Section/Rule
        field.
      3. Select a jurisdiction from the
        Jurisdiction
        dropdown.
    • To search by citation, use the
      Find by Citation
      section.
      1. Enter a complete citation in the
        Citation
        field. Punctuation and spaces aren't required.
  3. Select
    the search icon
    A list results list displays with documents that match your search terms.
  4. Use the filters to refine your search results.
  5. Select the name of a document to display its full text.
