Add a journal entry in Engagement Manager

Use the Journal entries tab to add a journal entry.
You'll need a user account that has been granted permission to Add Journal Entries. Before you can add a journal entry, there will also need to be a Client, an Engagement, and some amounts in the Trial Balance.
  1. On the Engagement dashboard, select the engagement to view it.
  2. Select the
    Journal entries
    tab on the navigation pane.
  3. Select the
    Add entry
    link.
  4. Enter a reference number in the
    Reference
    field, then choose a
    Type
    for your journal entry.
    • Non-consolidated engagements: Adjusting, Reclassifying, Federal Tax, State Tax, Other, Other 2, Other 3 and Proposed.
    • Consolidated engagements: Eliminating, Reclassifying, Federal Tax, State Tax, Other, Other 2, Other 3 and Proposed.
  5. Choose from one of the following Roll Forward options:
    • Exclude
    • Include
    • Reverse
    • Zero balances
  6. You can add a workpaper reference by using the
    Workpaper reference
    field or look up the workpaper by using the
    Search
    button. Select
    X
    to remove the reference. If you choose to enter a workpaper reference, you can also select
    Attachment
    to add a reference used by another existing workpaper.
  7. Enter the
    Account
    ,
    Description
    ,
    Debit
    , and
    Credit
    .
    • Choose
      Select Account
      to open the
      Select Account
      screen, where you can search for accounts by the account number or description and select one or multiple accounts, then select
      Add to journal entry
      to add it to the grid.
    • Optional: Select
      Add new account
      if you want to add new accounts while you're on this screen.
    • Optional: Select
      Columns
      to customize the columns you want to display on this screen.
  8. You can select the
    Trial balance
    link to open the trial balance in another window.
  9. Engagement Manager saves the journal entry automatically, but you can select the
    Done
    button to go back to the list of journal entries.
The Journal Entries grid on the
Journal entries
tab and the Adjusting JE column of the Trial Balance tab are updated with your saved entries.
