As of March 2023, HighQ integrates with Thomson Reuters Accounts, providing seamless and secure access to your HighQ instance, and other TR products. This guide is designed to help you navigate the authentication process with a Thomson Reuters Account.
We provide setup services for third-party federations that support SAML 2.0, please contact our support team.
If you are an existing HighQ user, you might still use the legacy authentication method. To determine which authentication method your HighQ instance is using, open your customised login page.

This topic takes you through authenticating your Thomson Reuters Account and accessing HighQ Collaborate. Access your HighQ instance with confidence and take advantage of the enhanced security and convenience provided by this integration.
Getting started with HighQ
Step 1: User account creation
Before you can access HighQ, an administrator must add you as a user in the HighQ instance. This can be done by either the system administrator or a site administrator.
Step 2: Confirming your user account
To confirm your user account has been created, look for an invite email from HighQ. This email contains important information and instructions on how to access your account.
Check your inbox
- Look for an email from HighQ.
Check your spam folder
- If you can't find the invite email in your inbox, check your spam or junk folder.
Request resend
- If you still cannot locate the invite email, contact your system admin or site admin to resend the invitation.
Step 3: Understanding the invite email
The instructions in the email invite may vary, depending on whether your email domain has Single Sign-On or SSO (third-party federation setup).
With SSO
: If your email domain is set up with a third-party federation (SSO), follow the specific instructions provided in the invite email to access HighQ.
Without SSO
: If SSO is not set up for your email domain, the invite email explains the standard login process.
The following message is an example of an invite you would get if your email domain is not set up for SSO. If your email account is set up for SSO, this invite would not include the 2 steps to setup or reset your Thomson Reuters account.

1. Access the login page of your instance.
2. Enter your email address and click

3. You are redirected to the Thomson Reuters Account login page.
4. If this is your first time using your Thomson Reuters account, you must reset your password to create a new one. You receive a Thomson Reuters email with instructions and a link to reset your password.
Passwords are never sent by email and only the Thomson Reuters Account owner can set up a password, using the self-service feature (password reset or change password)
5. After you reset your password, enter your new password to access HighQ.
6. You are prompted to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) options for added security. Follow the instructions to complete this setup. See

After you access your HighQ instance, please bookmark the address in your browser; this address is unique for each instance.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Requirement
In today's digital age, securing your accounts and sensitive information is more crucial than ever. Relying solely on a simple password is no longer sufficient to protect your data from unauthorized access. MFA significantly enhances the security of your account by requiring two or more verification methods. This additional layer of security ensures that even if your password is compromised, unauthorized access is still prevented.
Enhanced Security
- MFA requires multiple forms of verification, making it much harder for attackers to gain access to your account.
Reduced Risk of Data Breaches
- By adding an extra layer of security, MFA helps protect against unauthorized access and potential data breaches.
Increased Trust
- Knowing that your account is secured with MFA provides peace of mind and builds trust in our platform.
Steps to modify MFA preferences or change your password
Select the
Profile
button,
Settings
, then
My Authentication settings
.
If you're an SSO user, you'll get the following message:
These settings are managed by your single sign-on (SSO) provider.
You can't change the settings as these are managed by your company in their IDP of preference – not HighQ.
If you change your email address via your Thomson Reuters Account you will lose all access to the HighQ instance. Email changes should be managed by your HighQ system admin.
