Create a Current Awareness Alert

Set up a Current Awareness Alert to stay up to date with practice areas and topics.
You can set up a Current Awareness Alert for all practice areas and topics, or several alerts to cover different practice areas, at different frequencies. You can also set up alerts for others.
  1. Select
    Alerts
    from the toolbar.
  2. Select the
    Practical Law
    tab.
  3. Select
    Create Alert
    , then
    Practical Law Current Awareness Alert
    .
  4. To add practice areas and topics:
    • Select 
      Add this practice area
      Add this practice area button showing a plus icon next to a practice area.
    • Select a practice area, then select
      Add this topic
      Add this topic button showing a plus icon next to a topic.
  5. Choose a period from the
    Frequency
    dropdown list.
  6. Use the
    Alert at this time
    dropdown list to choose a time zone, day, and time to send your alert.
  7. You can choose to set an
    End date
    for your alert.
  8. Mark the
    Alert even if there are no results
    checkbox if you want an email alert when Practical Law finds no results for your criteria.
  9. Select
    Advanced Settings
    if you want to configure your alert further.
    • Enter a different name for your alert.
    • Enter a description of your alert.
    • Choose a delivery method, such as
      Email
      .
    • For email delivery: choose recipients, add a note, set detail level, have alerts show in the email or as an attachment, set a maximum number of items, add a cover page, and choose text formatting options.
    • For HTML, XML, RSS, and Portal delivery: set the detail level and the maximum number of items.
  10. Select
    Create Alert
    .
