Re-index the Digita Suite database

Day to day use of your Digita application can, through the editing and deleting of records, cause the database to become fragmented. With the re-index function you can identify and resolve databases with fragmented indexes. Indexes that are more then 10% fragmented and have more than 100 pages are identified and streamlined.
This should be done while no one is using the program. There are two methods of accomplishing this:

Using the Digita database backup tool

  1. To re-index the Digita Databases on the server or master PC, go to
    Start
    All Programs
    Digita
    Database Backup
    Database Backup
    .
  2. Open the
    Products
tab, then highlight the relevant product and select
    Re-Index
    .

Using a script

  1. Download this ZIP file.
  2. Once downloaded, and in the downloads folder, right-click on it and select
    Extract All
    .
  3. Once the extract files are presented to you, run the relevant CMD file by double-clicking on it. The process can take a while if the databases are large.
  4. Within the Logs folder are the resultant log files if you need to send in to Digita Support.
    Scheduling the Script
The scripts in the Scripts folder are all identical except for the first line, which can be removed. The script can then be added to a Maintenance Plan within SQL Server and applied to all Digita databases out of hours on a regular basis. We've detailed instructions on doing this in our help topic on scheduling database clean ups and re-indexing in Accounts Production Advanced.
