Add MICR numbers to check and deposit slips

A magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) line is a row of special characters at the bottom of a check or deposit slip. These characters are printed with magnetic ink so that machines can read them easily. The bank that issued the check controls what information is in the MICR line.
In the
Bank Accounts
screen, you can enter MICR information if you're printing your own checks and deposit slips. This helps make sure the checks and slips have the correct information.
  1. Select
    Setup
    , then
    Bank Accounts
    .
  2. In the
    Bank Accounts
screen, select a bank account from the
    Bank Accounts
    list and then select the
    Layouts
    tab.
  3. In the
    MICR and/or Deposit Slip MICR
section, choose the MICR format to use:
    1. Standard
: Select this option to use the MICR line created by the application based on the information entered in the
      Main
      tab of the
      Bank Accounts
screen. The application uses the bank's routing number for the Transit number and the account number for the On-US number.
    2. Custom
: To create your own MICR line, choose this option and then select the ellipsis to open the
      Custom MICR Line
window. Enter characters as necessary to create a custom MICR line.
    • The letter
      T
      represents the Transit symbol.
    • The letter
      O
      represents the On Us symbol.
    • The letter
      D
      represents the Dash symbol.
    • The pound sign
      #
represents the reference numbers for checks. When the application prints the checks, it replaces the pound signs with the appropriate reference numbers.
