Enter additional information about the final return

  1. Select
    Setup
    , then
    Clients
    .
  2. Select the
    Payroll Taxes
    tab.
  3. Go to the Forms section, and in the Federal 940 or 941 subsection, select
    Additional Information
    .
  4. Select
    Final Statement
    .
  5. Complete the fields in the Final Statement dialog.
  6. Select
    Enter
    to save your changes.
  7. Mark the
    Include inactive
    checkbox to show the inactive client.

The information you enter in this dialog does not display on the form, but it is required for electronic filing.

Mark the Final Return checkbox on Form 940 or 941

To mark the Final Return checkbox on Form 940 or 941, the inactive date entered for your client must be in the same period as the form being processed.
  1. Select
    Setup
    , then
    Clients
    .
  2. Select the
    Main
    tab.
  3. In the Client Information section, enter an Inactive date and select
    Business closed
    for the
    Inactive reason
    .
  4. Select
    Enter
    to save your changes.
  5. If you will continue to provide accounting services for your client after you have filed the final return:
    1. Go to
      Setup
      , then
      Clients
      .
    2. Select the
      Main
      tab.
    3. Remove the date in the Inactive date field.
