Create a quarterly financial statement for a monthly client

You can create quarterly reports for your monthly clients. This helps you present data in a way that's more useful for certain types of analysis or reporting.
Follow these steps to create a quarterly report for a client who reports monthly.
  1. Select
    File
    , then
    Report Designer
    .
  2. Double-click a financial statement to open it.
  3. Save a backup (recommended):
    1. Select
      File
      , then
      Save As
      .
    2. Give your report a new name.
  4. Set up quarterly columns:
  5. Select the 1st column you want to make quarterly.
    note
    Use SHIFT+click to select multiple columns at once.
  6. In the Column Properties section of the Design Tools frame, change the period to
    [(CP-2) + (CP-1) + (CP)]
    . This combines the current and prior 2 periods.
    note
    For prior-year quarterly, use
    [(1PP-2) + (1PP-1) + (1PP)]
    .
  7. Create quarterly headers:
  8. Select the cell with the column header.
  9. In the Cell Properties section of the Design Tools frame:
    1. Change the contents to
      [Client.AccountingProcessing.Periods.MonthsinQuartertoDate] Ended
      .
    2. Change the period to
      CP
      .
    note
    For prior-year headers, use the same content but change the period to
    1PP
    .
  10. Select
    File
    , then
    Save As
    to save your changes.
    note
    You can select
    File
    , then
    Restore Default
    to restore the original report.
