Separate net income from retained earnings

By default, many standard reports include the Net Income calculation in Retained Earnings. Alternatively, you can display the Net Income calculation on a separate line from the Retained Earnings on the Balance Sheet — Current Year.
  1. Select
    File
    , then
    Report Designer.
  2. Double-click
    Balance Sheet — Current Year
    .
  3. Right-click row 48 and select
    Insert Row Below
    from the context menu.
  4. Right-click row 49 and select
    Group into Repeating Level
    from the context menu.
  5. In cell A49, enter the text you want to display, such as
    Net income
    .
  6. Select
    Increase Indent increase indent button from toolbar
    from the toolbar to align text.
  7. Copy cell B48 and paste it to B49.
  8. Select cell B48.
  9. In Cell Properties, select
    formula insert formula insert button with flask icon
    in the Grouping content field.
  10. Change the formula to remove the net income calculation.
  11. Repeat steps 9 and 10 for cell B49.
  12. Select cell B52 and change the total calculation to include the new cell B49.
  13. Select
    File
    , then
    Save
    .
  14. Select
    File
    , then
    Print Preview
    .
