Direct deposit HSA or alimony deductions

Follow these steps to set up the application to link a deduction item for an employee's health savings account or alimony deduction, and then make a deposit into another account.
  1. Set up a vendor for the HSA provider or ex-spouse with these settings.
    • In the
      Vendor type
      field, select Payroll Agent.
    • In the
      Method
      field, select Direct Deposit.
    • Clear the
Always use payroll bank account for payroll liabilities
      checkbox.
  2. Set up a deduction type payroll item for the HSA or alimony in the Payroll Items screen, and make sure that the HSA vendor or ex-spouse is selected in the
    Agent
    field.
  3. Activate the deduction item on the Payroll Items tab of the Employees screen, and then select the ellipsis.
  4. Enter the direct deposit information for the HSA vendor or ex-spouse.
When you pay the liabilities for the HSA vendor or ex-spouse, the application creates a separate 6 Record ACH transaction for each employee direct deposit allocation.
If employees don't have a direct deposit allocation set up for the payroll item, the application will use the vendor's direct deposit allocation to create 6 Record ACH transactions. If the vendor payment type isn't set up for direct deposit, the application prints paper checks for those employees.
If the client (employer) matches the employees' contributions to an HSA account, you can follow the same steps to set up an employer contribution item.
