Set up tax agents

The
Tax Agents
screen shows federal, state, and some local tax agents for your firm's clients.
You can add local withholding tax agents manually. When a client adds a work location or employee address in an agent's jurisdiction, that agent displays in the client's Vendors list.

Add a local tax agent

  1. Select
    Setup
    ,
    Firm Information
    , then
    Tax Agents
    .
  2. Select
    Add
    .
  3. Enter the agent's ID and name.
  4. Select the state in the Jurisdiction section.
  5. Select the ellipsis next to
    Localities
    to select any localities under the jurisdiction of the tax agent, then select
    OK
    .
  6. Select the ellipsis next to
    Liabilities
    to select liabilities for the tax agent.
  7. Select the ellipsis in the Deposit Schedules section to select deposit schedules and details.
  8. Select the default payment method for the agent in the Payment Options section.
    • Mark the
      Filing required when no payment due
      checkbox if the tax agent needs a payment form filed event when there's no liability due. Mark the
      Accepts zero EFT file
      checkbox if the agent will accept a zero amount EFT file.
    • When
      Payment
      is the default payment method for the tax agent, you can mark
      Include payment worksheet
      to create a payment worksheet when payroll liabilities process for the tax agent.
  9. Enter contact information in the
    Phone and Fax Numbers
    and
    Email and Web Addresses
    sections.
  10. Select
    Enter
    to save.

Edit tax agents

  1. Select
    Setup
    ,
    Firm Information
    , then
    Tax Agents
    . Select the tax agent, then select
    Edit
    .
  2. Update ID, deposit schedule, payment method, and contact information as needed.
  3. For federal agents, enter payment bank details. For state and local agents, enter a default payment address.
  4. Update direct deposit information if necessary.
  5. Select
    Enter
    to save changes.
