Use the
Thesaurus/
Query search tool in Checkpoint

The
Thesaurus/
Query tool gives you advanced functionality when searching in Checkpoint.
When you start a search you can use the
Thesaurus/
Query tool to find documents that contain your keywords or their synonyms.
  1. Choose a practice area and enter your keywords in the search field.
  2. Select either
    Intuitive Search
    or
    Terms & Connectors
    .
  3. Select
    Query Tool
    .
  4. Use
    Tools
    to add search syntax and connectors:
    1. Select
      Tools
      .
    2. Use
      Keywords
      to choose one of the last 10 keywords you've used, if needed.
    3. Choose
      Connectors
      to improve your query, and select
      Append
      to include them.
  5. Use
    Thesaurus
    to add synonyms for your search terms, if available:
    1. Select
      Thesaurus
      .
    2. Select any of your terms to see alternatives for those keywords.
      • Hold the
        Ctrl
        key to choose multiple alternatives, or select
        Include all alternatives in query
        to add them all.
      • If you change your query while you use the Thesaurus/Query Tool, use
        Check Again
        to find more alternatives.
  6. Use
    Spelling
    to correct mistakes or incorrect terminology:
    1. Select Spelling
    2. If found, incorrect terms will appear in the
      Select Term
      field. Select any to fix them, then choose the correct alternative.
  7. Use
    Restrictions
    for Intuitive Searches to require or exclude terms from your search:
    1. Select
      Restrictions
      .
    2. Mark the
      Require
      or
      Exclude
      fields for terms if needed.
  8. Select
    OK
    to save your changes.
  9. Select the
    Search
    icon to begin your search.
