Installation options

There are three options available when installing Checkpoint Tools for PPC.

Install to Local Machine

This option downloads and installs the products you're subscribed to on your computer. This is also the option you'd use if you were installing to a Terminal Server or Citrix environment.
note
If you're installing in a Terminal Server or Citrix environment, you must install directly on the server. You can't remotely install to these types of servers.
Once you start the installer using this option:
  • The PPC installer will automatically select the most recent version of the products you're licensed for that aren't already installed. You'll only ever need to select products if you want an older version of a title.
  • You won't have to do anything else once the install is complete.

Administrative Install

An Administrative Install allows you to download the installation files and use them in different ways. It doesn't install any of your subscriptions. You'll choose this option if you're an experienced Network Administrator and are installing to a network.
If you choose this option:
  • The PPC installer won't automatically select any products. You can choose what files you'd like to install.
  • Access codes are in the installation files so you don't need to know them if you choose to run the installation files manually.
Once you've completed an Administrative install, you have the option to:
  • Run the files to install your subscriptions.
  • Push the install files to other computers on the network.
  • Put the files on a server so others can manually install what they need, when they need, without running the PPC installer.

Download only

This option is for SMART Practice Aids only. It's available for those who can't do a Local Machine or Administrative install for SMART. This will only download the products. You'll need to manually run the installation file the PPC Installer downloads so you can install or update your SMART products.
When you're on the Finished screen in the last step of the installation, you'll have access codes for what you downloaded. You'll want to print, take a screenshot, or write them down so you can install SMART.
