Account structure

Engagement Manager displays the account structure in the engagement properties when you set up an engagement or when you change the engagement properties.
There are four types of account structures available in Engagement Manager.

Consolidated account structure

The subsidiaries included in the client engagement determine the structure of a consolidated account.

Divisional account structure

For engagements with a divisional structure, you can specify an account mask of fixed or variable length using a single division for location, department, service, unit, etc. up to 65 characters in length.
The following rules apply when setting up a divisional account mask:
  • Only
    D
    ,
    C
    , and
    *
    are acceptable mask characters.
  • Division masks must include at lease one
    D
    character.
  • All
    D
characters must be contiguous within the division mask.
  • Division masks must include at lease one
    C
    or
    *
character, but cannot include both at the same time.
  • Division masks can include no more than one
    *
    character. If present, the
    *
must be the first or last character of the mask.

Examples of invalid divisional account masks
DDD***
Engagement Manager allows only one * in the account mask because it represents a variable-length account. To create a mask with three characters after the division, use DDDCCC instead.
CC*DDD
The account mask can contain either C characters or an asterisk, not both.
D followed by 70 C characters
The maximum mask length is 65 characters, including the division.
*DDD*
The mask can contain only one asterisk. To set up a mask with the division in the middle, use an asterisk either before or after the division, then specify a fixed-length portion of the account using C characters for that portion on the other side of the division.
DDCDD
Only one division is allowed in the account mask.

Fund account structure

For engagements with a fund structure, you can:
  • Use account numbers to assign accounts to the appropriate fund and subfund.
  • Use the template set up in the Administration area.
  • Use the fund structure you set up in the Trial Balance tab on the engagement.
  • Use
    F
    to indicate the fund,
    S
    to indicate the subfund, and
    C
    or
    *
for the remaining characters (up to 65 characters in total length).
The following rules apply when setting up a fund account mask:
  • Only
    F
    ,
    S
    ,
    C
    , and
    *
    are acceptable mask characters.
  • All
    F
    characters must be contiguous.

    S
    characters in the masks. (
    F
    and
    S
    characters
    can
    be separated by
    C
    or
    *
    characters.)
  • Fund masks must include at least one
    C
    or
    *
character, but it cannot include both at the same time.
  • Fund masks can include no more than one
    *
    character. If present, the
    *
must be the first or last character of the mask.
