Error: Required component Excel 2007 not available

Scenario

When you attempt to install the
Engagement Manager
Office
Client Add-In
 you may get one of the following error messages:
A required component (
Excel 2007
 PIA or higher version) is not available. Please run setup.exe.
A required component (
Office 2007
 Shared PIA or higher version) is not available. Please run setup.exe.

Causes

  • The bit-version of the
    Engagement Manager
    Client Add-In
     is not compatible with the bit-version of
    Microsoft Office
    .
  • More than one version of
    Microsoft Office
     is installed.
  • A component is missing from
    Microsoft Office
    .

Solution 1: Install the compatible bit-version of the Add-In

  1. Open a spreadsheet in
    Microsoft Excel
    .
  2. Select
    File
    , then
    Account
    .
  3. Select
    About Excel
    . Check the bit version.
  4. Install the compatible bit version of the Engagement Manager Client Add-In.

Solution 2: Check if more than one version of Microsoft Office is installed

  1. Open
    Windows
    Control Panel.
  2. Select
    Programs and Features
    .
  3. Check that there is only one supported version of
    Microsoft Office
    .
  4. If there are multiple supported versions of
    Microsoft Office
     installed on your computer, ask your firm's IT professional to help you resolve this problem. You only need one single supported version of Microsoft Office installed.
  5. Install the
    Engagement Manager
    Client Add-In
    .

Solution 3: Repair or replace missing Microsoft Office components

  1. Open
    Windows
    Control Panel
    .
  2. Select
    Programs and Features
    .
  3. Select
    Microsoft Office
     then select
    Change
    .
  4. Select
    Online Repair
    , if prompted..
  5. If prompted, restart your computer.
  6. Install the
    Engagement Manager
    Client Add-In
    .
  7. If the problem persists, ask your IT professional to uninstall and reinstall
    Microsoft Office
    , then re-install
    Engagement Manager
    Client Add-In
    .
