Add Lacerte Tax as a vendor in engagements
You can import Engagement Manager trial balances into Lacerte Tax. Before you can do that, you'll have to add it as a vendor in Engagement Manager. Follow these steps to get started.
- Sign in to Engagement Manager.
- Select
Setup, thenFirm Settings. - Under Tax Information, mark theLacerte Taxcheckbox, thenSave.
- Return to theEngagement dashboardand select the name of an engagement to view it.noteIf the engagement is not on yourEngagement dashboard, useOpen engagementsto add it.
- Select thePropertiestab from the navigation pane.
- SelectLacerte Taxfrom theVendordropdown list.noteWhen you selectLacerte Taxas theVendor, theEntitydropdown list will include all of the supported entity types you're able to import in Lacerte Tax.
- SelectSave.
Export Lacerte Tax data from Engagement Manager
Before you import your Engagement Manager balances, make sure Lacerte Tax is selected as a vendor for your engagement.
tip
- All entity types that Lacerte supports for import from Engagement Manager are listed in theEntitydropdown list. To go to the Entity dropdown list, view the engagement, then select thePropertiestab from the navigation pane.
- Confirm your Lacerte Tax codes are assigned to the appropriate accounts under Trial Balance for your engagement.
You can export trial balance data from your Engagement Manager engagement to import into Lacerte Tax.
- On the Engagement dashboard, select the name of the engagement you want to export.noteIf the engagement is not on yourEngagement dashboard, useOpen engagementsto add it.
- Select theTrial Balancetab on the navigation pane.
- SelectData.
- Choose the type of data you want to export.
- SelectOK.
- Save the export to the tax year folder in Lacerte Tax.noteThere are 5 different locations to save your data based on the type:
- Partnership:PDATA.
- Corporation:CDATA.
- S Corporation:SDATA.
- Non-profit:RDATA.
- Individual:DATA.
- Give your Engagement Manager export the same ID as your Lacerte Tax client.noteRefer to your Lacerte Tax documentation for support.
