Add an account to a trial balance

Follow these steps to manually add an account to a trial balance.

If you need to add multiple accounts to a trial balance, you can import trial balance data from a spreadsheet.
  1. Open the engagement you want to work with and select the
    Trial Balance
    tab.
  2. Select
    Account
    , then select
    Add
    .
  3. In the Account Properties panel, enter the account number and a description.
    • Account numbers can have up to 65 characters.
    • Account descriptions can have up to 120 characters, including spaces.
  4. Optional: Assign an account grouping code, or a code and subcode.
    We recommend that you select the Account Classification account grouping and assign a code, or a code and subcode, to ensure that an account type is assigned to the account for net income calculation purposes.
  5. Optional: If you selected a tax vendor and entity for the engagement, you can assign a tax code and tax subcode.
  6. Select
    Save and Add More
    if you want to add another account, or select
    Save and Close
    if you're finished.
