Example of using the Association Wizard

The Association Wizard can save you time while entering assets. Use the Association Wizard to set up default association values and a default Method/Life Wizard asset class that the application should enter based on the value you choose for the primary association during asset data entry.
Example
You are completing a CA Personal Property Tax (PPT) return for a business located on 4562 South Main Street in Calaveras County and are also using Creative Solutions Accounting (Write-Up CS or Trial Balance CS) for the automatic journal entry, which uses the Group association. The following associations are set up for the client.
  • PPT Type - CA
  • Group
  • Location
  • County - CA
To set up the Association Wizard for this client, perform the following steps.
  1. Open the client.
  2. Choose Setup and then Associations.
  3. If you have not already done so, select the Enable button at the bottom of the Association dialog to enable all associations that are used for the CA PPT return.
  4. In the Associations dialog, select the Wizard Setup button.
  5. In the Primary Association dialog, select
    PPT Type - CA
    from the
    Choose the primary association for the Association Wizard
    field.
  6. Select Continue.
  7. In the Association Wizard Setup dialog, select
    Office furniture & equipment
    from the
    Primary association value
    field.
  8. Select the Edit button in the Default association values to group box.
  9. Select the following default association values for the associations listed. These values will be automatically entered for the associations when you choose Office furniture & equipment from the Association Wizard during asset data entry.
    • Group:
      Furniture & Fixtures
    • Location:
      4562 South Main Street
    • County:
      Calaveras County
  10. Select the Enter button in the Default association values to group box.
  11. Select the Edit button in the Default Method/Life Wizard asset class to group box.
  12. Select
    Furniture or fixture - nonrentals
    from the
    General
    field.
  13. Select the Enter button in the Default Method/Life Wizard asset class to group box.
  14. Select
    Done
    to return to the Associations dialog.
  15. Select
    OK
    to close the Associations dialog.
Now, when you add a new asset and select
Office furniture & equipment
from the Association Wizard, the values you entered for the Group, Location, and County associations (in step 9) will be entered in the asset's association fields. Also, the asset class you entered (in step 12) will be entered for the asset.
