General

We've made performance optimization improvements in the following areas:
  • Refreshing of the
    Document Search
screen (the spinning orange circle) is significantly faster result of this release. You'll notice significant improvements after making selections to your display preferences, sorting columns, filtering selection, and when changing the column display order. You'll also notice visually faster navigation throughout
    Document Search
    .
  • Client search results in the
    Document Search
    and
    Document Explorer
    .
  • Archiving, publishing, unpublishing, exporting, and switching between
    Document Explorer
    and
    Index Search
screens all provide for a better experience, without having to wait as long for the screen to refresh.

FirmFlow

  • We've enhanced FirmFlow folders to have spell check abilities in the Chrome browser. This can be seen on the
    Deliverables
    ,
    Delivery Instructions
    , or
    Notes
    tab when selecting
    Add New Notes
    from the
    Option
button. A spelling mistake displays highlighted in red and a right-click provides spelling suggestions.
  • We've fixed the following error message, which appeared when attempting to delete 2 or more FirmFlow Workflows at the same time.
    Delete Folder Failure
  • The FirmFlow API Utility has been updated to version 23.1.1 and is now available from the GoFileRoom menu bar. Select your user name in any screen of GoFileRoom, then select the FirmFlow API Utility for download.
    • It's important to check with your firm’s administration team to ask if your firm currently takes advantage of this tool.
    • The changes made to this release only impact the sign-in process, and are intended to support the impending AUTH0 authentication transition scheduled for November of 2023. If your firm is currently leveraging API services with this utility, it will be important to download and apply this new version in coming months in preparation.
  • We've addressed an issue in Search Workflows for situations when an Engagement type description included an ampersand "&" character within the name of the Export List function. The export now functions as expected and accepts the ampersand character.

GoFileRoom Add-In version 23.2.4

We're excited to deliver several improvements to this version of the GoFileRoom Add-In. The GoFileRoom development team has focused on easing the administrative burden surrounding the support and deployment of the Add-In. Select your user name in any screen of GoFileRoom, then select the
GoFileRoom Add-In
for download.
Benefits included in this release:
  • We've consolidated all legacy GoFileRoom Add-In installations into a single installer package, including: Adobe Acrobat, GoFileRoom ScanFlow, GoFileRoom ControlPanel, Microsoft Office, and GoFileRoom QuickLaunch. This change will simplify the number of downloads and installations you'll need to manage or deploy to staff members. By combining all add-ins into a single installer, many of the installation steps have changed.
  • ScanFlow license information is now retained so that the Add-In installation process doesn’t need a new or refreshed license key. This helps to save time on new installations of the Add-in or moving the scan station to a new computer.
  • We've made improvements for an easier Group Policy installation or silent install update process. In addition, we've improved the silent installation to include an EXE option. Review the silent installation prerequisites to ensure a smooth installation.
  • You'll find installation instructions on the Help and Support center, which will be updated on August 28.
Add-In issues resolved
  • We've resolved an Adobe issue impacting federated single sign-on (SSO) features. GoFileRoom ScanFlow will now function as expected with SSO turned on.
  • GoFileRoom ScanFlow, PrintToGFR, GoFileRoom QuickLaunch, Adobe add-in, and GoFileRoom ControlPanel now all share the same sign-in credentials, helping your team to avoid several sign-ins throughout your day. This feature is only supported on 32-bit versions of Microsoft Office currently and will be enhanced on a future GoFileRoom Add-in release.
  • On previous Add-In installations, in some situations, there were screens of the Add-in install process that were not visible or didn’t display. We’ve improved the installation to not present options behind other windows.
  • We've corrected an error with the Print to GoFileRoom feature caused by the Windows Language Settings, when set to a preferred language other than English.
  • Microsoft Excel previously defaulted to the GoFileRoom toolbar option, needing extra clicks to the most often used Excel options. This update changes the default open view to be set on the
    Home
tab in Excel upon opening a file.
  • We've corrected an issue when using the Organize Documents feature in Adobe. The application will now prompt to Save back to GoFileRoom when replacing pages.
GoFileRoom ScanFlow
  • ScanFlow is now included as part of the GoFileRoom Add-In installation process and doesn't need a separate add-in to be downloaded. If you are not currently licensed for GoFileRoom ScanFlow, you can activate your license at any time by contacting your Sales Representative. If your firm is licensed for ScanFlow, you'll need to turn off Adobe’s Protected Mode.
  • The ScanFlow functionality is now optional during the installation within the Custom install option, refer to the Help and Support center documentation for details on the Custom Installation process.
  • On August 28, review the following article if you need assistance: GoFileRoom ScanFlow.
  • ScanFlow now includes a new
    Shared ScanFlow workstation
selection that allows your firm to indicate if the PC is a workstation shared between multiple staff. Selecting this option will assure the GoFileRoom session is terminated when Adobe is closed.
  • We've addressed an issue in Acrobat 64-bit versions that would display the following error:
    <crash exception="EXCEPTION_UNKOWN"
With this version of ScanFlow, you can now scan a document and upload the batch as expected.

API and automation

We continue to invest resources into supporting, promoting, and creating our open API environment. Both for customers to use and for third-party companies to enhance their service capabilities.
We offer you a case study detailing how a firm began their automation journey by trying to create visibility around specific dimensions and elements coming out of GoFileRoom and FirmFlow. To find out more on how you can be more efficient and drive new business with Thomson Reuters tax and accounting APIs, contact our team. To get started now, review our Get Started with GoFileRoom API services guide.
API enhancements and issues included on this release:
Details on the new endpoints will be posted to the Thomson Reuters Developer Portal upon release.
  • New endpoint: The RollForward API endpoint provides a FirmFlow Administrator the ability to roll a single workflow forward via an API. As a recommendation, we suggest you get familiar with this functionality so that you are positioned to take advantage in the new year. API: {/firmflow/api/v1/Firmflow/RollForward}
  • New endpoint: This enhancement provides the ability to generate a PDF Control Sheet in an automated way. {/firmflow/api/V1/Workflow/ControlSheetPDF}
  • New endpoint: Enhancements have been made improve the user experience with the "CreateWorkflow" endpoint of the Firmflow "Workflow" API. We now offer a V2 "CreateWorkflow" endpoint {/firmflow/api/V2/Workflow/CreateWorkflow} that supports the adding of multiple "deliverable" objects, multiple "InformationFields" objects, and multiple "RoutingSummary" objects in a single call.
  • We've corrected an issue with the getuser information API call {/api/v2/administration/user/getuser} so that it will now return information for the User Type 'Clientflowusers'.
  • We've identified and corrected a permissions issue that limited the ability to extend deliverables via Edit Workflow API. To extend a deliverable via the 'Edit Workflow' API, the "Roll Forward" Permission is no longer required.
  • We've corrected an intermittent error message that may have displayed with the /api/v1/documents/getdocumentstatus, in situations where more than one document ID was requested at a time. This error may have displayed randomly or fail with status 400 errors
    "key": "ERROR_HAS_OCCURRED"
"value": "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
