Link Microsoft Excel spreadsheets in GoFileRoom

You can create external reference links to GoFileRoom documents using formulas in Microsoft Excel. You can add these externally referenced documents to GoFileRoom, or, if they're already in GoFileRoom, search for them and establish links.

Add spreadsheets with links to other spreasheets in GoFileRoom

  1. Open or create a Microsoft Excel document with formulas that use values in other spreadsheets.
  2. Select
    Add to GoFileRoom
    in the toolbar. Sign in to GoFileRoom if prompted.
  3. Enter the required indexes and select
    Index
    .
    note
    The status of the document changes from "Not Indexed" to "Indexed" and you now have the option to add the next referred document.
  4. To add the linked spreadsheets to GoFileRoom, enter the required indexes and select
    Index
    . To skip a document, select
    Skip
    , and you will be prompted to index the next linked document.
  5. Select
    Done
    when all of the documents you want to add to GoFileRoom have been indexed.

Locate and check out linked GoFileRoom spreadsheets from Excel

  1. In Excel, open a spreadsheet with external links that's stored in GoFileRoom.
  2. Select
    Checkout Linked Files
    in the Excel toolbar.
  3. Select the spreadsheet from the search results.
  4. Right-click and select
    Edit Document
    .

Update values in linked spreadsheets

Updating values helps you to make sure that you're seeing the most recent data when working with linked spreadsheets.
  1. In Excel, open a spreadsheet with external links that's stored in GoFileRoom.
  2. Select
    Update Values
    in the Excel toolbar.
  3. Select the source, then
    Update Values
    .
  4. Select
    Close
    .
