  3. Select
    Type of Originator

  4. Select
    Enable federal e-file

  5. Next go to
    Signature Authorization

  6. Select state options, if needed.
  7. Next go to
    Signature Authorization

  8. Next check for validation errors by going to
    Organizer
    ,
    E-file
    ,
    Error Checking
    .
  9. Select
    Generate Validation Error
    .
  10. When the process is complete, go to
    View
    ,
    Diagnostics
    .
  11. Review items related to
    Electronic Filing
    . Review return information causing the diagnostic and make any necessary changes to correct the data entry.
  12. Once errors are corrected, perform a full recompute and review any new e-file diagnostics and modify input as necessary. Repeat the data modification, compute, and review process until there's no e-file diagnostics listed.
  13. Next go back to
    Organizer
    ,
    E-file
    ,
    Return
    , and then
    Create E-file
    .
  14. Select
    Create Federal E-file 990/990EZ/990PF
    .
  15. Check the
    E-file Status
    column.
    1. If the e-file creates without errors, the system will show
      XML file is created - Return is 'Qualified.'
    2. If errors exist, the system will show
      XML is created but NOT qualified - Diag needs to be cleared.
    3. If validation errors exist, the system will show
      XML is created but NOT qualified - Please clear all vali.errors.
  16. When you're ready to send qualified e-files to the IRS, go to the
    RS Browser
    ,
    Returns Processing
    ,
    E-file
    , and then
    Select Returns
    .
  17. Select account, tax year, and tax type.
  18. Select
    e-File Type
    as Return.
  19. Select
    Continue
    .
  20. Select whether the returns are
    Federal Ready to Send
    and/or
    States/Cities read to send: All States/Cities
    .
  21. Select
    Continue
    again.
  22. Select
    Submit for e-file
    .
  23. Your return(s) will be processed and sent to the IRS. The status of these returns will show
    Awaiting Acknowledgment
    until the extension's been accepted or rejected. To check the status, go to
    RS Browser
    ,
    Returns Processing
    ,
    E-file
    , and then
    Status Report
    .
    1. If the return gets rejected, open the locator and modify the erroneous information, and then recreate the e-file and resubmit. All extension e-files have 5 days (including weekends and holidays) for the perfection period.
