Status reports and Notes overview

Status reports and notes are both located under the
Status
tab of a matter. This tab is hidden for locked matters.
Status reports and notes are just two of the online forms that can be completed during the life of a matter. The following table will help you better understand the special features and situations under which you should use a particular form:

Description
Status reports provide information about the most current status of a matter.
Notes provide a way to record miscellaneous information about a matter that should be preserved. For example, if outside counsel gets approval to hire an expert, then outside counsel could post a note recording the authorization.
Who can post
A user must have a matter role of Matter Administrator or Matter Editor.

Who can view
  • Any user from your firm who was added to the matter can view all of your firm's status reports.
  • Billing users from your firm who were not specifically added to the matter cannot view status reports.
  • Company users can view all status reports posted by your firm.
  • Other law firms can view your firm's status reports only if the status report is marked as

Required or optional
Company users can make status reports required monthly or quarterly.
Notes are optional (not required, but can be posted at any time).
