Excel Add-in authentication methods

To access data in products on the ONESOURCE Platform, you need to provide authentication credentials.
The Add-in offers 2 authentication methods:
  • Registration - With registration you enter ONESOURCE credentials.
  • Single sign-on (SSO) - With SSO, you enter the SSO credentials that you use at your company.

Registration

To register with the Platform:
  1. Select the
    Workpapers
    tab, then
    Registration
    in Excel.
  2. Enter your ONESOURCE username and password.
  3. Select
    OK
    on the authentication window.
  4. Select
    Register
    .
  5. Select a value for
    Account
    if the drop-down is enabled.
  6. If you're a ONESOURCE Firm Edition customer, select a
    Client
    .
  7. Select
    Sign On
    to complete the registration.

Single sign-on (SSO)

SSO accepts the credentials you use at your company to authenticate with the ONESOURCE Platform. The Add-in authenticates with the Platform during the following operations:
  • Selecting Sign On in the ribbon.
  • Downloading a workpaper from the Platform.
  • Saving a workpaper to the Platform.

You need to re-enter your SSO credentials each time you reopen the Add-in.
To enable single sign-on:
  1. Select the
    Workpapers
    tab, then
    Settings
    ,
    Add-in Settings
    .
  2. Select
    General
    , and then
    Use Single Sign-On
    .
  3. Enter your company-specific
    SSO URL
    .
  4. Select
    OK
    . If you've been registering with ONESOURCE credentials, you get a message telling you that your existing credentials will be removed. Select
    Yes
    .
  5. Select
    Sign On
    in the ribbon.
  6. Enter the credentials into your company-specific SSO page. Contact your ONESOURCE system administrator if you don't know your SSO credentials.
  7. When your authentication's successful, select
    OK
    .
  8. If you're a Firm Edition or Client Manager customer, you'll receive an additional message to select a client. Select
    Sign On
    , then
    OK
    .

The time of day when you signed in using SSO appears next to your SSO username.
