F2441-524 e-file error

Form 2441, Part II, Line 2(a) each 'QualifyingPersonNameControl' and the corresponding Line 2(b) 'QualifyingPersonSSN' must match data from the e-File database. (value #########, rule F2441-524)
note
The value represents the Social Security number of the dependent causing the rejection.
The IRS e-file database includes a name control and Social Security number for each filer. This rejection means that the information sent in the e-file doesn't match what the IRS has in the database.

Solution

  1. If there's more than 1 dependent on the return, make note of the value at the end of the rejection. It will help you find the dependent causing the error.
  2. Go to the General folder.
  3. Select the 1040 screen.
  4. Open the
    Dependent Information
    statement.
  5. Check the
    SSN
field for the value mentioned in the rejection. Once you find it, make sure the
    Last Name
    and
    SSN
    are correct for this dependent.
  6. Correct any wrong information. Then recreate and retransmit the e-file.
  7. If the information is correct:
    • If the dependent has multiple last names, refer to the Individual Name Control section of Publication 4164 for help on how to enter the last name.
    • Otherwise, contact the IRS e-file Help Desk at 866.255.0654 for more information or file the return on paper with Form 8948.
