FPYMT-086 e-file error

'EstimatedPaymentDueDt' in the IRS ES Payment Record must not be more than 5 days prior to the received date. (value YYYY-MM-DD, rule FPYMT-086)
This happens when there's an estimated payment that has a date more than 5 days before you e-filed the return.

Solution

For 1040 and 1041 returns:
  1. Go to the Electronic Filing input folder.
  2. Open the ELF screen.
  3. Review the review the selections in the
Electronic funds withdrawal for estimated tax by quarter
fields for accuracy. Unmark any quarters that correspond to a date more than five days ago.
    note
For example, if today's date is 06/30/2024 and the
    2
    nd
estimate box is marked 1, for Return, you will receive this rejection because the second estimate due date is 06/15/2024. To correct, remove the 1 from the
    2
    nd
box and adjust the other estimate amounts, if needed, on Screen Est, in the Payments folder.
For 1120 returns:
  1. Go the the Payments input folder.
  2. Open the Est screen.
  3. Remove any estimates that correspond to a date that is more than 5 days ago.
  4. Recreate and retransmit the efile.
