IND-031-04 e-filing error

'PrimaryPriorYearPIN' or 'PrimaryPriorYearAGIAmt' in the Return Header must match the e-File database. (value #########, rule IND-031-04).
You'll get this error if the taxpayer's
Prior year PIN
or
Prior Year AGI
doesn't match the IRS e-File database.

Solution

note
The value in the error message represents the SSN or EIN causing the rejection.
  1. Go to the
    PIN
    screen, in the
    Electronic Filing
    folder.
  2. Check the
    Prior year taxpayer PIN
    and
    Prior year AGI
    for the taxpayer.
  3. If incorrect, correct it, then re-create and retransmit the return.
  4. If correct do one of the following:
    • Contact the IRS at 800-829-1040 for more information.
    • Use the Practitioner PIN option.
  5. If you want to set up the Practitioner PIN for all clients:
    1. Select
      Setup
      , then
      Office Configuration
      .
    2. Select the
      E-Filing
      tab.
    3. Select
      ERO
      , then mark the
      Practitioner PIN Program filer
      checkbox.
    note
    • To turn off
      Practitioner PIN
      , clear the checkbox after you've re-transmitted the rejected return.
    • If you've entered
      Prior year PIN
      or
      Prior year AGI
      on the
      PIN
      screen, you'll need to delete these entries before you can use the Practitioner PIN and for the return to be accepted.
