IND-445 e-file error

If ['StateAbbreviationCd' of the Filer's address in the Return Header is "PR"] or [the Filer's address is a foreign address], then 'EarnedIncomeCreditAmt' in the return must be zero if an amount is entered.
You'll get this error if you claim the earned income credit (EIC) on Form 1040 and enter a foreign address.

Solution

  1. Go to the 1040 screen in the General folder.
  2. Review the
    Address
    field.
    • If the taxpayer is eligible for the EIC, the address needs to be domestic.
    • If the address is incorrect, correct it, then recreate and retransmit the return.
    • If the address is correct and it's foreign, you need to file the return on paper.
