IND-508 e-file error

The Primary SSN in the Return Header must not be the same as the Spouse SSN on another return for the same tax year with filing status Married filing jointly.
You'll get this error if the SSN entered for the taxpayer on the return matches the SSN of a spouse on another return already accepted by the IRS.

Solution

  1. Go to the General folder and select the
    1040
    tab.
  2. Make sure the taxpayer SSN is correct.
  3. If there was a typo or incorrect information entered, correct it. Then re-create and retransmit the e-file.
  4. If the SSN is correct, you'll need to file the return on paper.
