IND-510-01 e-file error

Duplicate Condition: /Return/ReturnHeader/Filer/SpouseSSN: The Spouse SSN in the return must not be the same as the Primary SSN on another return filed for the same tax year. (value #########, rule IND-510-01)
You'll get this error if the spouse SSN entered has already been used as the primary SSN on another return.

Solution

  1. Go to the General folder.
  2. Open the 1040 screen.
  3. Check the
    Spouse SSN
    field for accuracy. If the SSN is incorrect, correct it, then recreate and resubmit the e-file.
  4. If the SSN is correct, you'll need to file the return on paper with Form 8948. You can contact the IRS at 866.255.0654 for more information.
